JELD-WEN is currently seeking a Extrusion Coordinating Group Manager to join our growing team.
The Opportunity
As an Extrusion Coordinating Group Manager at JELD-WEN, you will be a key member of the Manufacturing team and will be responsible for overseeing the initial installation of equipment then manage the production team as they set up, operate, and tend extrusion lines to extrude thermoplastic wood polymer composites into usable components and pellets. This is an exceptional opportunity to lead by example on the plant floor in a true hybrid role of hands-on expertise and management capability. You will report directly to the Plant Manager.
This is an onsite role and is based in our Klamath Falls, OR Facility.
What You Will Do
- Responsible for leading day to day activities of production, ensuring safety and quality standards.
- Project manage the facility upgrades for equipment being installed.
- Oversee the extrusion and pelletizing process as they mold new products.
- Recommend product enhancements or improvements in Materials/Colors/Finishes/Textures
- Implement improvement projects related to engineering (improved throughput or improved physical properties, decreased scrap).
- Manage new or replacement tooling design including managing the timeline for tooling construction, tuning, development, testing and approvals.
- Identify and lead new equipment specification and purchasing for the extrusion area.
- Identify root-cause of both internal and external non-conformities.
- Implements strategic programs that improve labor efficiency, on-time delivery, quality, workplace safety, and customer expectations.
- Generates monthly reports to effectively communicate program contributions, lead-times, on-time delivery, continuous improvement efforts, and manufacturing issues and needs.
- Provides input for selection of appropriate manufacturing equipment to ensure the most cost-efficient solution is available within company budget guidelines.
- Maintains manufacturing staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees; maintaining a safe and secure work environment; developing personal growth opportunities.
- Produces products by establishing production planning systems, maintaining good manufacturing practices, enforcing quality standards, and improving products and processes.
Who You Are
- Bachelor’s degree in operations management or 6 years of closely related work experience.
- Minimum 5 years of related experience with custom extrusion experience in Manufacturing.
- Twin-screw experience a plus
- Tooling design expertise (dies and sizers)
- Experience, knowledge or trained in Six Sigma Lean Methodologies manufacturing
- Prior Management experience preferred
