Under direct supervision, this position(s) performs repetitive production support operations using hand tools and associated machinery and equipment to assist in the manufacturing of JELD-WEN products including Door Skins, and all other JELD-WEN-related building products. 

 

Responsibilities and Duties 

  

All Forklift Drivers 

 

  1. Operate forklift in a safe and efficient manner. Facilitating the movement of products from one location to another, properly load and unload trailers, as well as properly pull product for shipping to customers. 

  1. Must be able to perform all daily tasks of data entry in the company production system. 

  1. Safety - complies with all written and verbal safety rules of the plant and department including the use of personal protective equipment. 

  1. Collaborate in efforts of maintain good housekeeping and ensuring that isle and or walkways are free of clutter. 

  1. Become familiar with various customer products and where and how they are to be stored. 

  1. Fill the gas tank as needed and replace the propane gas tank as needed. 

  1. Basic math skills to accurately pull product for orders. 

  1. Empty the trash dumpster when needed. 

  1. Know the location of cases in the warehouse. 

  1. Understands that height restrictions for pallet stacking. 

  1. Knows the location of bulk skids and storage locations in the department. 

  1. Scans finished products. 

  1. Fills in as needed for other general warehouse duties as needed and availability to cross trained within the department. 

 

Specific duties Forklift –Shipping & Receiving 

  1. Must show basic familiarity with truck operations. 

  1. Be able to properly complete a pre-shift truck inspection, as well as complete P.M. checklist daily. 

  1. Know where to put all finished goods, bulk material, and supplies. 

  1. Loads and/or unloads material/finished goods from trucks. 

  1. Takes finished goods to shipping docks/warehouse. 

  1. Stages finished product for delivery. 

Specific duties Forklift -  

Material Handler 

  1. Know the proper placement of all finished products. 

  1. Stocks lines with materials and parts. 

  1. Delivers materials to production lines. 

  1. Pallet building and pallet picks.  

  1. Deliver core materials.  

  1. Stacks crates, pallets, lumber, or other material.  

  1. Keeps inventory, loading areas, and machinery clean. Open containers, sort, and catalog materials.   

  1. Detect and report defective materials. 

Specific duties Forklift –  

Skin Drivers 

  1. Must be able to identify skins from schedule. 

  1. Must know the proper placement of skins. 

Specific duties Forklift –  

Hand Loaders 

  1. Drives sit-down and stand-up forklifts, and automated pallet jacks as needed.  

  1. Moves hazardous materials.  

  1. Pallet building and pallet picks.  

  1. Loads goods onto conveyer belts.  

  1. Stacks crates, pallets, lumber, or other material.  

  1. Keeps inventory, loading areas, and machinery clean. Open containers, sort, and catalog materials.  

  1. Keep the work area clean and organized during and at the end of shift.  

  1. Performing routine post and pre inspections to ensure suitable working nature or forklift equipment. Reporting to supervisor regarding any damage to racks, faulty equipment, or any other safety hazards. 

LTL Transfers 

  1. Read proper JELD-WEN Window & Doors Receipt for incoming material. 

  1. Work overtime including weekends as needed. 

  1. Perform daily pre-operation checks of equipment and documents. 

  1. Knowledge of doors, product designs and locations in the warehouse. 

  1. Conduct and maintain inventory of materials and supplies necessary to meet production demands. 

  1. Use of the scanning devices and equipment to ensure that the correct product is placed on the correct pallets. 

  1. Lift the required lbs. (50) and load carts while retrieving special pre-hung units and other materials. 

  1. Responsible for proper packaging of transfer materials per company’s standard of procedures. 

  1. Responsible to identify, retrieve, and load pallets using a forklift. 

 

  • Willingness to learn and be cross trained throughout the plant. 

  • Detect and report defective materials. 

  • Communicate with management on material or maintenance on equipment not performing up to standards and those in need of reorder / repair. 

  • Responsible for maintaining clean and functional equipment.  

  • Promote cleanliness and safety within the department. 

  • They gather the necessary materials, use the appropriate hand tools, and operate applicable machinery and equipment in the various plants while assisting in the achievement of production goals, quotas, and objectives. 

  • Safety Compliance – Follow all safety protocols and guidelines while performing job tasks. Report any safety hazards or concerns to the supervisor immediately.  

  • Conforms with safety regulations per plant policies and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines. This includes but is not limited to, the use of safety glasses, ear plugs, masks, steel-toed boots/shoes, and associated safety equipment to be on the plant floor.  

  • Cleanliness and organization – Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, including storage spaces. Ensure tools and equipment are safely stored after each use.  

  • Other duties assigned by the management staff.  

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities 

  • Must have the ability to read and comprehend basic verbal and written instructions, and read and interpret drawings, blueprints, sketches, instructions, and specifications. 

  • Must be able to work in a team-oriented environment. 

  • The ability to work in a manufacturing and fast-paced environment. 

  • Have reliable transportation and be punctual and dependable for each assigned shift. 

  • Must be able to work overtime as needed. 

  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background and drug screening.   

 

Education and Experience 

  • High School Diploma 

  • Forklift Certification a plus 

  • Basic understanding of mechanical systems and tools. 

  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills. 

  • Willingness to learn and follow instructions. 

  • Clear and precise communication skills and the ability to work within a team. 

  • Previous experience in manufacturing or warehouse environments 

  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. 

  • Excellent communication skills 

  • Able to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects. 

  • Must be able to be trained in basic processes and equipment and serve as a hands-on resource in Production Support. 

 

Work Environment  

This position is highly active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and stepping all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Moving materials and products within the plant. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus on details. This position also requires the operation/maintenance of machinery and/or power tools. This classification requires employees to follow instructions made by the Group Lead and/or Group Manager. Additionally, PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) can include earplugs, safety glasses, safety side shields, steel toe shoes, Kevlar or Latex gloves, and face masks.
