Depending on assignment, our team members may do any of the following duties: 

• Yard Dog Driver (TRUCK DRIVER) 

   

  This employee is responsible for safely operating a yard dog tractor to position trailers for loading and unloading, maintain an organized and efficient trailer yard, and support shipping and receiving operations by ensuring accurate trailer placement, documentation, and communication.

  Essential Duties and Responsibilities:     Perform daily preoperational inspections of the yard tractor and other PIT equipment; promptly report any issues.  Demonstrate safe operation of PIT equipment and follow all equipmentspecific procedures.  Wear required PPE and consistently follow all company safety policies and OSHA guidelines.  Maintain clean and orderly work areas, including the yard, dock lanes, and trailer parking zones.  Safely move trailers in and out of loading bays according to production and shipping needs.  Maintain an accurate and uptodate trailer inventory, including trailer number, location, and status.  Monitor and manage trailer volume for each carrier and communicate issues to leadership.  Assist with inbound traffic, staging, and directing carrier drivers as needed.  Keep the yard organized, including drop zones, staging lanes, and traffic flow paths.  Ensure all trailers are positioned and secured in accordance with company safety standards.  Verify incoming materials using JELD-WEN Windows & Doors receipts; ensure correct trailer placement for receiving.  Conduct routine yard inventory counts and document all trailer movements in the appropriate system or team page.  Identify and report defective or damaged materials or trailers.  Assist with managing pallets, container areas, compactors, and opentop waste trailers as needed to support yard organization.  Perform accurate recordkeeping for equipment inspections, trailer logs, and safety checklists.  Communicate effectively with Team Leaders, Group Managers, Shipping/Receiving Clerks, and coworkers regarding trailer status and yard conditions.  Support warehouse team leads with transfers, trailer prioritization, and inbound/outbound coordination.  Provide suggestions for improving Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Inventory (SQDCI) and support continuous improvement initiatives.  Assist with return trailer preparation and ensure proper handling of return materials.  Other job duties as assigned by leadership.  Must hold valid PIT certification (no CDL required).  Must be able to stand for the duration of the shift and work overtime or weekends as required.  Ability to work effectively in a fastpaced, teamoriented environment.
