Job Title: Production Specialist
Reports to: Group Manager
Shift: 3:30 PM Start Time

Under direct supervision, this position(s) performs repetitive production support operations using hand tools and associated machinery and equipment to assist in the manufacturing of JELD-WEN products including Door Skins, and all other JELD-WEN-related building products.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Read and understand customer’s requirements from the job ticket.
- Gather all the materials needed to complete the job.
- Ensure that all material is labeled properly before it is sent to the warehouse.
- Ensure all door accessories are in place before packaging.
- Understand each material for the different orders.
- Visually inspect, select, and package products according to requested specifications.
- Communicate with management on material or maintenance on equipment not performing up to standards and those in need of reorder / repair.
- Responsible for maintaining clean and functional equipment.
- Responsible for the troubleshooting of the machine.
- Review documents such as production schedules, and work orders, to determine the set-up of the machine including door type, and size and validate each order.
- Responsible to operate the machine accurately according to each order characteristic to exceed customer expectations in a safe and efficient manner that improves the current level of production.
- Responsible for assembling the door accessories of the product.
- Detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions to appropriate plant personnel including, the direct supervisor, or inspection or quality control personnel.
- Safety Compliance – Follow all safety protocols and guidelines while performing job tasks. Report any safety hazards or concerns to the supervisor immediately.
- Conforms with safety regulations per plant policies and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines. This includes but is not limited to, the use of safety glasses, ear plugs, masks, steel-toed boots/shoes, and associated safety equipment on the plant floor.
- Cleanliness and organization – Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, including storage spaces. Ensure tools and equipment are safely stored after each use.
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
- Other general duties as required by the management staff.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Must have the ability to read and comprehend basic verbal and written instructions, and read and interpret drawings, blueprints, sketches, instructions, and specifications.
- Willingness to learn and be cross trained throughout the plant.
- Must be willing to accept and receive frequent training, supervision, and assistance from positions and supervisory personnel.
- Must have effective communication skills and be able to communicate with many levels of personnel effectively and tactfully in various situations and environments.
- Must be able to work in a team-oriented environment.
- Must be able and motivated to learn.
- The ability to work in a manufacturing and fast-paced environment.
- Have reliable transportation and be punctual and dependable for each assigned shift.
- Demonstrate a self-motivated attitude and ability to comprehend the importance and confidential nature of all information.
- Must be able to work overtime as needed.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical examination and drug screen.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED
- Basic understanding of mechanical systems and tools.
- Previous experience working in various pieces of janitorial equipment, including vacuum cleaners, floor strippers, buffer machines, and carpet/fabric shampooers.
- Basic understanding of the usage of tools.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to learn and follow instructions.
- Clear and precise communication skills and the ability to work within a team.
- Previous experience in manufacturing or warehouse environment
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects.
- Must be able to be trained in basic processes and equipment and serve as a hands-on resource in Production Support.

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be frequently exposed to fumes, cleaning solutions, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and machines, vibrations, and loud noises. All safety protocols including OSHA guidelines as mentioned above are mandatory.
