JELD-WEN is currently seeking a HR Generalist to join our growing team. 

 

HR Generalist

 

Overview

The individual will assist with HR and Operation functions and will be motivated to expand within an HR capacity. Responsible for day-to-day activities in areas of HR and Operations including but not limited to employee relations, compliance, and benefit administration. This individual will proactively deal with internal HR & organizational tasks and issues as they arise.

 

Principle Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Assists department in carrying out various human resources programs and procedures for all company employees (i.e., general human resource, benefit questions, FMLA, ADA, Workers’ Comp, and occasionally, Unemployment)
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale
  • Administers various human resources plans and procedures for all company personnel; participates in development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures; evaluates, develops, recommends, and implements updates to Employee Handbook and organizational/ departmental policies and procedures
  • Attends and participates in employee relations meetings with personnel at all levels of the organization to include performance management, discipline and discharge, compliance, and documentation
  • Performs employee-related investigations of complaints related to policy administration.
  • Maintains employee records and HRIS assuring accuracy, compliance, and confidentiality to include, verification of Eligibility to Work (I-9), required documents, signatures, and employee data to include employment change notices and termination letters
  • Assists as needed in the on-boarding process by coordinating with Talent Acquisition, preparing offer letters, employment background screening, drug testing, new hire orientation and communication with relevant departments (Training, IT, etc.), managers, and personnel
  • Assists as needed in interpreting background check results in compliance with company policies related to the eligibility of candidates for hire
  • Assists as needed in communicating procedures and administration of various employee benefit programs, such as group insurance, life, medical and dental, disability,) and other employee welfare benefit plans
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Monitors Human Resources general email daily and responds to or distributes inquiries and requests to appropriate HR personnel. Escalates issues to Management when necessary. Responds to inquiries related to income/employment verification or other benefit related questions on an ongoing basis
  • Performs off-boarding process by coordinating COBRA and termination of benefits with benefits manager, deactivation of Network, email and building access, and other related personnel file documentation
  • Manages and maintains accurate and updated job descriptions for all employee personnel; analyzes and updates job descriptions for all positions as needed
  • Assist with Operational Audits, internal and external (e.g. SOC), subpoenas, and EEOC investigations.
  • Oversees on-site risk and safety programs by counseling managers and employees in safety compliance; conducting ergonomic evaluations of workstations; ensuring safety training in compliance with state and federal laws
  • Coordinate and plan company events for multiple offices including but not limited to office parties, catering, sporting events, and employee appreciation activities
  • Performs special projects relating to the Human Resource function as directed by management and oversees management of various projects and related activities as assigned and prescribed by HR management

  • Ability to ensure leadership are within compliance of labor laws

 

Education and Experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree; working towards PHR/SHRM-CP Certification
  • 4+ years of Human Resources experience, preferably in the capacity of HR representative or generalist
  • Experience with multiple HR related systems
  • Fundamental knowledge of employment law and practices, State and Federal laws, and Continuous Improvement
