Job Title: Team Lead Maintenance 2nd Shift 

Reports To: Group Manager Maintenance

THE ROLE  

 

The Maintenance Lead plays a critical role in ensuring the effective and efficient maintenance of equipment, machinery, and facilities within the organization.

 

Principle Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Provide strong leadership to the maintenance team, including technicians and support staff. 
  • Set clear performance expectations, monitor progress, and provide regular feedback. 
  • Understanding the principles of preventive maintenance and the ability to develop and implement maintenance plans is essential to ensure the longevity of industrial equipment.  
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive preventive maintenance program for all equipment and facilities. 
  • Schedule and coordinate maintenance activities to minimize production downtime. 
  • Oversee the troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of machinery and equipment. 
  • Coordinate with external vendors and contractors for specialized repairs and services. 
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment maintenance history and repairs. 
  • Monitor and control expenses to ensure budget adherence. 
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising safety or quality. 
  • Manage and optimize the inventory of spare parts and maintenance supplies. 
  • Establish reorder points and ensure timely replenishment of critical items. 
  • Enforce safety protocols and promote a safe working environment. 
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, codes, and standards. 
  • Conduct regular safety audits and address any identified issues. 
  • Identify training needs for maintenance team members. Provide training and development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge. 
  • Foster a learning culture within the maintenance department. 
  • Identify opportunities to optimize maintenance processes and increase efficiency. 
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and expenditures. 
  • Lead or participate in cross-functional improvement projects. 
  • Must be able to work in a TEAM environment and offer Suggestions to improve SAFETY, QUALITY, DELIVERY, COST and INVENTORY 

 

 

 Knowledge, Skills, Ability

 

  • Strong technical skills are vital, including the ability to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain a wide range of industrial equipment and machinery.
  • The ability to identify and resolve complex technical problems is crucial. Industrial maintenance leads often encounter unexpected issues that require creative solutions.
  • Effective communication skills are needed to convey instructions, report maintenance issues, and collaborate with other departments. This includes both verbal and written communication.
  • Organization To manage maintenance schedules, resources, and inventory effectively, an industrial maintenance lead should be highly organized.
  • Project management skills are essential for planning, budgeting, and executing these projects successfully.
  • Proficiency in using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and other software tools for scheduling, inventory management, and record-keeping is often required.
  • Understanding the principles of preventive maintenance and the ability to develop and implement maintenance plans is essential to ensure the longevity of industrial equipment.
