JELD-WEN is currently seeking a Process Engineer to join our growing team.

 

Summary/Objective

Develop manufacturing processes related to assembly and automations. Support and improve production equipment/tool capability, availability, efficiency and safety.

The role works with multiple manufacturing plants worldwide. This requires coordinating new equipment purchase and the installation of these. It is important that processes are robust and machines are capable, reliable and safe from the start-up. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be the Bill of Process owner for assembly and automations.
  • Develop assembly processes for new and current products.
  • Utilize automation whenever it is applicable in terms of payback and quality requirements.
  • Prepares technical specifications of new equipment using JELD-WEN procedures.
  • Ensure good process capabilities on all responsible processes, using JEM tools.
  • Lead and participate in equipment build using internal or external resources.
  • Prepares preventive maintenance plan, ensures that it is up-to-date and adhered to.
  • Designs factory layout considering material flow.
  • Ensures labor safety and ergonomic evaluation of production equipment.
  • Create and maintain all technical and operation documentations.

 

Frontline leaders are responsible for ensuring implementation of the EH&S systems in his/her area of responsibility. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Never allowing employees to compromise their safety, or protection of the environment to improve productivity, efficiency, or sales
  •  Never instructing employees to disregard EH&S rules, policies or standards
  • Encouraging the Immediate reporting all incidents (injuries, illnesses, near misses, spills, etc.), hazardous conditions, and emergencies by their employees
  • Raising the visibility of environmental, health & safety within the department or area
  • Being accountable for environmental, health & safety performance of the department or area
  • Fostering an atmosphere where environmental, health & safety issues are freely and openly discussed, and environmental, health & safety incidents are reported.
  • Encouraging direct reports and other coworkers to be involved in environmental, health & safety activities.
  • Performing routine inspections within his/her areas of responsibility to proactively identify and address environmental, health & safety risks and hazards.
  • Understanding and ensuring environmental, health & safety rules are observed.
  • Promoting adherence to the requirements of the environmental, health & safety management system, particularly JELD-WEN’s Life Critical Safety Rules and the Environmental, Health & Safety Standards
  • Being visible in the workplace on environmental, health & safety matters, including engaging employees in conversations about environmental, health & safety and participating in relevant EH&S meetings.
  • Leading, attending and actively participating in EH&S training
  • Encouraging and supporting employees’ right to invoke the stop work process to prevent injuries.
  • Imposing fair, legal and proper disciplinary actions in cases where environmental, health & safety rules are violated.

 

SUPERVISORY

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

TRAVEL

Some travel may be expected for this position.

 

Education and Experience:

 

        Required Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Preferred Personal Attributes:

  • In-depth knowledge and applied experience of Six Sigma and Lean concepts
  • Experience with project pipelines and project management
  • Experience with ERP systems
  • Familiarity with Gemba process and KPI management
  • Formal knowledge of/experience with problem solving tools/exercises
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products, time management tool
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment and processes
  • Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices and procedures within the industrial manufacturing area

 

       Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Preferred Personal Attributes

  • BS in Mechanical/Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering or related technical degree.
  • Experience in following areas:
    • Small parts/module assembly
    • Wood, Vinyl doors and windows assembly
    • Welding, soldering, fastening, adhesive
    • Machining
    • Automatic material movement
    • Labelling and Packaging
    • Electrical Control
    • Robotics
  • Project management knowledge
  • Experience in leading projects
  • 3+ year experience in mass production
  • Strong communication skills in English (verbal and written)
  • Team worker
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Hands-on approach
  • Strong time-management skills
