Production Scheduler

 

Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Materials Manager, the Scheduler interprets and sequences customer orders, generating daily production schedules and reports. This position requires the ability to learn the organization’s product line in order to establish efficient production schedules.  Collaborates frequently with material managers, customer care and production leaders.  This position requires attention to detail, troubleshooting skills and proven time management and computing skills to generate required schedules and reports within established lead times.  Performs detailed duties and assists with manufacturing processes including, but not limited to, production control, and materials management processes and procedures, in accordance with JELD WEN’s Mission Statement.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leads production scheduling and organization efforts for the plant/s, including gathering drawings and material specifications.
  • Reviews and sequences new orders as they arrive, analyzing resource requirements, lead times and production capabilities.
  • Organizes and prints orders, including pulling drawings and part requirements within the internal resource management system and creates schedules at given points throughout the day.
  • Serves as the main point of contact for scheduling changes and ad-hoc build demand.
  • Corresponds consistently with key production stakeholders, including customer care, materials team members, and production leaders.
  • Understands and assists with production control, order entry/alterations and materials management processes.
  • Assists management and staff with new program implementation and training and support as needed.
  • Attends regular staff meetings with management and disseminates non-confidential information to personnel as needed.
  • Participates as needed in special department projects as determined by the Plant Manager, or other appropriate supervisory personnel.
  • Solid understanding of Production Planning and Production Scheduling best practices and principles is required
  • Integrate with production team to determine the needs and constraints of the manufacturing factory through engagement with functional groups, and schedule work orders accordingly
  • Lead daily production meetings
  • Generate weekly/monthly production and capacity plans using systems and processes that support the organization’s goals.
  • All other duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications:
  • Two (2) to four (4) years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Some basic knowledge and experience in production and manufacturing processes and techniques.
  • A basic understanding of manufacturing process improvement techniques including Continuous Improvement (JEM), SQDCI, TPS, OTD, and JIT.
  • Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal, technical aptitude, analytical and problem-solving skills.  
  • Strong team skills, including the ability to coach and develop work teams and provide appropriate training as needed to facilitate growth and development.  
  • The ability to motivate/empower others and resolve conflict. 
  • Must be flexible and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other position applicable JELD-WEN computer software applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills up and down the organizational hierarchy.
  • Must have the ability to maintain the highest degree of integrity and confidentiality.
  • Must be willing to cross train in other office functions.
  • Advanced computer skills with working knowledge of SAP MRP/ERP System

 

Safety

  • Must be a role model for safety; wears required PPE at all times including safety glasses, hearing protection, safety shoes and gloves, when entering production.
  • Adheres to all safety rules and regulations.
  • Work areas must be maintained and kept clean and safe at all times.

 

Qualifications

  • Must be detail oriented.
  • Must be able to lift to =50 pounds.
  • Must be able to squat, sit, stand, walk, reach daily and as needed to perform all job functions.
  • Must be able to work independently.
