Summer 2025 Internship: Operations - Continuous Improvement, Garland, TX

JELD-WEN is currently seeking a Summer 2025 Internship: Operations - Continuous Improvement, Garland, TX to join our growing team. 

ABOUT THE ROLE 

The JELD-WEN Summer Internship Program empowers talented undergraduate students to gain real-world working experience and professional development. This position is in our Garland, TX doors plant. The internship will be in the Operations Engineering business area, with a focus on Continuous Improvement. The internship program includes meaningful projects and challenging work assignments geared at developing professional competencies and skills in a chosen discipline. Additionally, throughout the summer internship, participants will have the opportunity for professional development, mentoring, and networking opportunities to help enhance future leadership.     

WHAT YOU’LL DO  

Examples of opportunities during the internship include:  

• Gain exposure to the different parts of Plant Operations while on the JELD-WEN Continuous Improvement Team (JCI) 

• Be art of the team to integrate automation and robotics into our product lines 

• Get a firsthand look at industrial operations and manufacturing process flows 

• Assist with the creation of material and process flow documentation to support new equipment installations 

• Integrate LEAN & Six Sigma principles into processes and documentation 

• Work cross functionally to understand opportunities for improvement and create strategies that can be executed within the plant.

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION 

Required 

• Currently enrolled rising junior or senior students majoring in: Mechanical or Industrial Engineering 

• Coursework or experience in operations research, manufacturing process flow and/or systems engineering 

• Demonstrated work ethic and detail-orientation.  

• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills 

• Organizational skills and the ability to produce high caliber work in a plant environment  

• Ability and willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment and work collaboratively as part of a team or individually 

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.  

• Leadership experience and relationship-building skills 

• Ability to report to work Mon-Fri (in office) 

Recommended  

• Minimum GPA 3.0  

• Relevant internship or previous work experience is desired 

• *Bilingual – Spanish preferred
