Work Environment

It is defined as a Heavy Manufacturing environment where employees are frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.

 

Role Summary & Purpose

Reporting to the Quality Supervisor and/or JCI Leader, the Quality Technician will be responsible for a range of quality assurance duties within Jeld-Wen door operations. Responsibilities include auditing incoming materials, monitoring assembly processes and records, inspecting finished goods, and deploying root cause analysis through the A3 process.

 

Key contacts for this role include:

Internal – required to interact with peers, Group Lead, and Group Manager.

External – required to interact with Production Manager, HSE Manager, Human Resources, Quality, JEM, and Plant Manager. 

 

Depending on assignment, our team members may do any of the following duties: 

  • Daily review of production records, quality records, and training records for accuracy
  • Take samples of products at various stages of processing
  • Conduct routine tests for product specifications 
  • Perform data entry and record keeping. Regular filing and document management
  • Verify dimensions of raw materials and finished goods for accuracy and conformance to specifications using measuring instruments
  • Check products and packaging for basic quality defects, verify accuracy and completeness of data.
  • Conduct quality audits and assist in the development of quality management and quality assurance standards
  • Support the production team to identify, contain, and correct quality issues in the production line
  • Reviews RGA Tags for accuracy and records RGAs in the RGA Log
  • Schedule and execute sample testing as required, document findings, and provide the first analysis of the data. 
  • Keep the supervisor apprised of all situations that compromise quality and/or deviation from standards.
  • Inform management regarding non-conforming material(s), product(s) or processes.
  • Must be attentive to details, have good communication skills, and knowledge of using measuring tools as tape measures, calipers, and depth gauges. 
  • Knowledge of lean tools.
  • Knowledge of root cause analysis.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Proficient in English, conversational and written.
  • Computer-literate.

 

Physical Demand 

  • This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and stepping all day.
  • Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, and others.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus on details.
  • Moving oneself in different positions to accomplish a task.
  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, walking for prolonged periods.
  • Adjusting, moving, flipping, pushing, and folding objects from 35lbs up to 100lbs in all directions.
  • Repeating motions that may include the shoulders, arms, wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Operating machinery and/or power tools.
  • Assessing the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.
  • Ability to follow and receive instructions from the management.

  • Low Temperature in the winter season.
  • High Temperature in the summer season.
  • Loud manufacturing setting.
  • Usage of Personal Protective Equipment (earplugs, safety glasses, safety side shields, steel-toe shoes, Kevlar or Latex gloves), including Face Mask
