Role Summary and Purpose

The role is responsible for securing a maximal throughput of value increase projects across European plants by leading a small team of experts in project management, business analysts and R&D specialists. Main purpose is act as a technical leader that manages and sponsors the team to deliver the optimum cost for products/production sites acting actively on creation, evaluation, prioritization, communication and coordination of cost reduction and value-added activities related to either product or its production sites.


Critical Performance Objectives

  • Financial – Cost reduction targets for the different Product Lines across Europe.
  • Financial – Budget: remain within the target for the area
  • Project – Time to market: reduce project duration by increasing team efficiency
  • Transparency and Communication: clear communication to ELT and stakeholder management to achieve project resourcing towards objective.


Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities

  • To inspire a small technical team towards extraordinary results towards cost reduction activities, ensuring a winning culture that creates engagement around.
  • To secure optimum processes are in place to secure a sustainable income and outcome of activities according to available resources, but also looking for opportunities of increasing the VAVE organization efficiency year over year.
  • To be a steward of VAVE activities in the organization, making the best area to work while creating awareness of the importance of the activities in alignment with company strategy
  • To identify, initiate and coordinate the VAVE project portfolio through a mature Project Management structure, considering behaviors, tools, methods and routines.
  • To connect and live long term partnerships with several peers in Operations, R&D, Product Management and Finance area, being recognized as the ambassador of the area throughout the European organization
  • Guarantee proper resourcing of the different activities through awareness, internal partnership, identifying new ways of working, addressing bottlenecks and properly escalating challenges when needed.
  • To prioritize projects according to financial evaluation of initiatives, using the proper assessment tools at each stage gate to facilitate decision making


Experience / Knowledge

  • Essential: 5+ years experience in R&D/Operations
  • Essential: 5 years experience in Project and Portfolio Management
  • Essential: minimum 3 years experience in team leadership
  • Essential: experience with VA/VE or DTV activities in a market leader organization
  • Knowledge in industrial, large scale manufacturing of goods (B2B/B2C are both acceptable)
  • Knowledge in development of business cases for guaranteeing proper project execution


Education / Qualifications

  • Wood, Mechanical engineer or related background


Language Skills

  • Must be fluent in both written and spoken English
  • German is preferred, but not essential


The position can be filled in Austria, Germany, Switzerland, the Czech Republic and Hungary.
