Director I, Logistics/Distribution

The Role

Reporting to the SVP of Customer Success, this role is a hands-on leader responsible for optimizing transportation, distribution, and network performance across North America. This leader owns the strategy and execution for truckload, LTL, carrier management, and logistics operations while ensuring exceptional service to customers and manufacturing operations. Success requires exceptional change leadership, the ability to challenge longstanding practices, and a relentless focus on measurable business outcomes.

The Director of Logistics will unlock the full value of JELD-WEN’s logistics network by leading change across plants, customers, and cross-functional teams. This leader must deeply understand customer and operational needs, use data to define the right service model at the right cost, and remove barriers that prevent the business from optimizing freight spend and network performance. A critical component of the role is evaluating and implementing network solutions, including third-party logistics partnerships and distribution capabilities, that improve service, scalability, cost and flexibility.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead logistics category managers and influence plant-based logistics to create one aligned logistics organization— driving execution, removing roadblocks, sharing best practices, and improving service at an optimized freight cost.
• Develop and execute the North American logistics strategy, balancing transportation cost, customer service, inventory deployment, network efficiency, and operational constraints.
• Lead one of the company's largest controllable spend categories, with accountability for transportation strategy, spend management, carrier performance, and logistics execution across North America.
• Identify and execute structural cost reduction opportunities by improving load planning, routing, network design, freight procurement, carrier performance, shipment consolidation, scheduling, and plant execution.
• Partner closely with Operations, Planning, Customer Service, Sales, Manufacturing, and Product Management to optimize the entire supply chain rather than transportation in isolation.
• Evaluate and implement network solutions, including third-party logistics partnerships, that improve service, scalability, and cost performance.
• Develop executive-level carrier and logistics partner relationships that create competitive advantage for JELD-WEN. Build a high-performing transportation network through strategic partnerships, market intelligence, operational discipline, and mutually beneficial commercial agreements that ensure capacity, service excellence, innovation, and continuous cost improvement.
• Lead network-wide logistics governance, performance management, and operating reviews to identify opportunities, remove barriers, and accelerate execution.
• Leverage analytics, AI-enabled tools, automation, and technology to improve network visibility, operational execution, carrier performance, and cost optimization.
• Build logistics capabilities through continuous improvement, talent development, technology adoption, and standardized operating processes.
• Own logistics budgets, forecasts, KPIs, and performance metrics with clear visibility into freight cost, service performance, productivity, carrier performance, and savings delivery.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

• Deep expertise in transportation, logistics, distribution, and supply chain management within a complex manufacturing environment.
• Proven success managing large-scale transportation operations and delivering measurable cost reductions while improving customer service.
• Demonstrated ability to optimize logistics through broader supply chain improvements rather than transportation tactics alone.
• Strong understanding of truckload and LTL networks, carrier economics, freight procurement, network optimization, and distribution strategy.
• Experience developing strategic carrier relationships and transportation partnerships that improve service, reliability, and cost performance.
• Experience evaluating, implementing, and managing 3PL and outsourced logistics solutions.
• Demonstrated ability to leverage advanced analytics, AI-enabled tools, automation, and technology to improve logistics and supply chain performance
• Exceptional change leadership capabilities with a proven track record of transforming complex manufacturing and supply chain organizations. Must be able to influence plant leaders, challenge long-standing operating practices, change behaviors at scale, and drive adoption of new ways of working that deliver sustainable business results.
• Strong commercial acumen and relationship management skills with experience building strategic partnerships across carriers, logistics providers, customers, and internal stakeholders.
• Deep understanding and adoption of Lean, Continuous Improvement, and operational excellence principles.
• Willingness to travel up to 30%.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Business Administration, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum of fifteen (15) years of progressive leadership experience in transportation, logistics, supply chain, or distribution management within a manufacturing environment.

APICS, CSCMP, CLTD, Six Sigma, or related professional certifications preferred
