Your role:

We’re looking for a fantastic Mechanical Engineer to join our team at Penrith.

 

In this newly created role, you will set the standards for Engineering, operational activities. Role model behaviours in line with the JELD-WEN standard of acceptance and in accordance with JELD-WEN values and expectations.

 

As Mechanical Engineer, you will drive Engineering activities towards world-class performance; make continuous improvement standard practice. Educate, develop, and inspire team members towards betterment and achievement.

 

This role will support the site teams to ensure compliance with company legislative requirements.

Excelllent benefits and competitive pay . Engineer Shifts operate on a 3-shift pattern.  Week one: night shift, week two: afternoon shift. Week three: morning shift. 

£19.51 p/h resulting in a salary of £44,376.66 plus opportunities for overtime.

 

What impact you will make

 

  • Respond to breakdowns and keep machinery in production
  • Be able to complete dynamic risk assessments to a high standard and have a good understanding of potential hazards
  • Receive and issue permits to work and ensure engineering work is carried out to H&S, environmental and engineering standards
  • To ensure adherence with all compliance standards and operate with integrity at all times.
  • Drive departments 5s campaigns and demonstrate 5s expansion as part of daily cadence.
  • Ensure Maintenance systems are fully utilised to optimise performance.
  • Work to daily Standard Operating Procedures
  • Support with the training and coaching of apprentices

 

What you will need to succeed: 
 

  • Practical experience of drive systems including belts, chains, and conveyors is essential.
  • A clear understanding of mechanical systems with excellent fault diagnosis and ratification skills is essential.
  • Experience in pneumatics is essential.
  • Experience in hydraulics is preferred.
  • Logical thinker.
  • Can work efficiently alone as well as in a team.
  • Good communication skills.
