The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for the administration of a broad spectrum of duties, including employment, benefits, training, performance management, and employee relations. The associate human resources generalist will be responsible for one or more locations, depending on the size of the plant they oversee.

 

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

· Assists department in carrying out various human resources programs and procedures for all company employees (i.e., general human resource, benefit questions, FMLA, ADA, Workers’ Comp, and occasionally, Unemployment)

· Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale

· Administers various human resources plans and procedures for all company personnel; participates in development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures; evaluates, develops, recommends, and implements updates to Employee Handbook and organizational/ departmental policies and procedures

· Attends and participates in employee relations meetings with personnel at all levels of the organization to include performance management, discipline and discharge, compliance, and documentation

· Performs employee-related investigations of complaints related to policy administration.

· Maintains employee records and HRIS assuring accuracy, compliance, and confidentiality to include, verification of Eligibility to Work (I-9), required documents, signatures, and employee data to include employment change notices and termination letters

· Assists as needed in the on-boarding process by coordinating with Talent Acquisition, preparing offer letters, employment background screening, drug testing, new hire orientation and communication with relevant departments (Training, IT, etc.), managers, and personnel

· Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.

· Monitors Human Resources general email daily and responds to or distributes inquiries and requests to appropriate HR personnel. Escalates issues to Management when necessary. Responds to inquiries related to income/employment verification or other benefit related questions on an ongoing basis

· Coordinate and plan company events for multiple offices including but not limited to office parties, catering, sporting events, and employee appreciation activities

· Performs special projects relating to the Human Resource function as directed by management and oversees management of various projects and related activities as assigned and prescribed by HR management

 

Knowledge, Skills, Ability

· Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with both clients and vendors

· Strong written and verbal communication skills

· Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment

· Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships

· Ability to support and maintain HR activities and programs (i.e., staffing, orientation, etc.)

· Ability to develop and conduct group presentations to employees

· Ability to remain calm in various situations

· Ability to ensure all levels of leadership are in compliance with labor laws

 

 

Education and Experience

· Associate degree or above; PHR/SHRM-CP Certification preferred

· 3-6 years of OE or varied HR experience

· Experience consulting or large-scale project management experience strongly preferred.

· Knowledge of Union processes.
