Supplier Quality Engineer

JELD-WEN is currently seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer to join our growing team.

Supplier Quality Engineer

Job Purpose

• Reduce component non-conformances and COPQ due to component variabilities by using modern statistical and lean manufacturing tools.
• Manage component quality and suppliers to provide defect-free and consistent component quality.

Job Responsibilities

• Manage component quality claims, coordinate with operation teams, sourcing managers, buyers, product engineers and suppliers to handle quality claims and manage supplier claim database to help component quality manager to build up supplier quality matrix (Doors and Windows).
• Conduct supplier audit (product and process) per business needs and direct manager’s direction. Conduct physically inspection at supplier sites and/or JW facilities as required.
• Follow up with supplier on corrective action report and verify the implementation.
• Document customer’s quality feedback/complaints; Collect good/bad samples (pictures) to build up quality board at factory floor for supplier quality improvement.
• Work with supplier, direct manager and product engineer on the product specifications and drawings. Review specifications with key suppliers to ensure fully implementation.
• Evaluate supplier manufacturing capabilities. Identify supplier’s strength and weaknesses to drive suppliers to make timely, effective improvements.
• Identify cost savings and lean manufacturing opportunities within supplier’s facilities. Animate supplier leadership to improve efficiency and eliminate waste. Identify/drive product quality improvement projects in supply base to reduce COPQ and defect rates.
• Assist direct manager on new supplier and new component qualifications and developments.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree on engineering or quality related field.
• Minimum 3 years of manufacturing experience, and/or quality control, quality system audit, new supplier and new product development experience in building material industry.
• Excellent verbal and written language skills.
• Good computer and communication skills.
• Familiar with statistical quality control tools and lean manufacturing tools.
