THE ROLE

 

As a valued member of the corporate accounting team, the Financial Accountant will be part of a team responsible for accurate and timely accounting and monitoring of company’s cash, self-insurance charges, accruals, bonuses, and other assets and liabilities as assigned.

 

This position will be located either in the Klamath Falls, OR accounting office or in the Charlotte, NC headquarter and reports to the Financial Controller. We are considering remote candidates as well.

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Prepare monthly journal entries not limited to amortization calculation for prepaid insurance premiums and all prepaids related to administrative departments, monthly self-insurance charges (WC, Auto, Property, Health, Life, etc.) and SGA intercompany charges, monthly accruals and other journal entries related to the assigned cost centers and insurance legal entities.
  • Prepare bank reconciliations.
  • Assist controller in the preliminary and annual audit performed by external auditors.
  • Assist controller with forecasting and budgeting for insurance.
  • Assist controller with quarterly reporting requirements and other special projects as assigned.

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, and percentages.
  • Ability to follow policies and procedures and support organizational goals.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, and to work well in collaborative group environments.
  • Intermediate knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Excel, Outlook,
  • Ability to work remotely, participate in online meetings and presentations, and report to a manager at another location.

 

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in accounting

One to three years’ relevant experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience with Financial Accounting Software (OneStream, Epicor, SAP) is a plus
