*This position will be supporting Lean initiatives in Procurement/Supply Chain**

 

*This position can be located anywhere in the US close to an airport or in Global Corporate Office in Charlotte, NC**

 

Summary: The JELD-WEN Excellence Model (JEM) is a culture, a system, and a tool kit. The lean manufacturing tools and process improvement techniques are proven in achieving operational excellence on a worldwide scale.  JEM is built by JELD-WEN associates, reflecting our diverse experiences at lean, world-class organizations. Under the guidance of VP of JEM, the Sr. JEM Leader will support Procurement/Supply Chain will facilitate systems/processes designed to eliminate waste and non-value-added activities and improve performance in Safety, Quality, Product Delivery, Cost, and Inventory. This position will teach, coach, and facilitate implementation of lean strategies, tactics, practices, policies, and culture to drive sustainable lean transformation with a focus on procurement and supply chain that will support world class business operations.   

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 

  •  Leads and coaches the procurement and supply chain teams in both operations and functional areas on lean tools and techniques including standard work, 3P/2P, Kanban, kaizen, value stream mapping, visual management, pull systems, mistake proofing, TPM, 5S and cellular manufacturing.
  • Teach and coach the use of Lean Supply Chain processes including: Heijunka, DDMRP, PFEP, PQPR/ ABC Analysis, Level Loading, and processes to facilitate lead time reduction and lowest total cost of ownership while having the correct quality and quantity of materials in the correct place and time.
  • Assists teams in setting and measurement of actual performance against key performance indicators and targets to improve.
  • Understand and use Hoshin Kanri/Strategy Deployment.
  • Must teach and use the A3 process to guide engaged problem solving and breakthrough improvements.
  • Conducts workshops and provides support to others in connection with Kaizen/Rapid Improvement Events.
  • Ensure project/change initiatives meet business objectives on time and on budget by increasing employee adoption and usage. This includes focusing on the people side of change, including changes to business processes, systems and technology, job roles and organization structures
  • Lead JEM projects/Kaizen events for improvement results that can be leveraged globally across sites, functions, and product lines specific to process and user adoption
  • Collaborate and execute communication plans to support the rollout and education on continuous improvements and best practices across plants and functions   
  • Provide progress reporting on improvements and track results to strategic plans and KPI’s including financial and performance metrics.
  • Be proficient in guiding root-cause analysis (A3 Problem Solving). Lead or coach focused improvement activities and teams to improve results including safety, quality, delivery, cost and inventory
  • Work across business practices to remove barriers and streamline processes by understanding internal and external customer requirements

 

 

 

 Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Operations or equivalent education and experience as determined by management.
  • Hands on experience successfully deploying Lean, Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement processes with specific experience in sourcing/procurement, supply chain, and logistics. (Value Stream Mapping, A3, Standard Work, Level Loading, Creating flow and lead time reduction.)
  • Have led 50+ rapid improvement events tracking sustainable levels of improvement.
  • At least five (5) years’ experience leading Lean Transformations in transactional and manufacturing operations, educating, and coaching others on Lean principles and lean supply chain.
  • Expertise in ERP/MRP/SIOP, planning/scheduling processes and the procure to pay value stream.
  • Able to mentor and facilitate lean culture change in an environment with varying levels of acceptance.
  • Strong project management, organizational, analytical, and presentation skills.   
  • Demonstrated ability to apply critical thought processes to develop, recommend and implement strategies and programs that address plant and corporate objectives.  
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills up and down the organizational hierarchy.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills including influence on those with whom there is not a reporting relationship.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve conflict effectively, manage change and problem solve.
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office and applicable JELD-WEN software applications.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently under conditions of multiple deadlines and changing priorities.
  • Ability to travel. (75-85%)
