JELD-WEN is currently seeking a Senior Communications Specialist to join our growing team.
The Role
The Senior Communications Specialist provides communication support for critical business priorities, employee-focused initiatives, executive engagement activities, crisis and emergency communications, charitable giving programs, and key enterprise communication events. This role will work closely with Human Resources, Corporate Communications, senior leaders, and numerous internal business partners.
This is a hybrid position requiring three days in office each week. Candidates must be local to Charlotte, NC to be considered.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead the administration, promotion, and communications for employee-focused programs, including the Employee Emergency Relief Fund, Employee Rebate Program, and employee wellbeing initiatives.
- Manage the charitable giving and sponsorship request process, including approvals, communications, tracking, reporting, and support of community engagement and volunteerism efforts.
- Develop and implement employee communications across multiple channels to increase awareness, engagement, and participation in enterprise and HR initiatives.
- Provide communications support for executive and leadership engagement activities, including the development of presentations, talking points, briefing materials, and employee-facing communications.
- Manage communication materials, logistics, and execution support for key enterprise events, including earnings communications, global town halls, and leadership meetings.
- Support crisis and emergency communications planning and execution, including management of emergency notification systems, communication resources, testing, reporting, and response communications during significant business events.
- Partner with Human Resources and cross-functional teams to communicate employee programs, benefits, talent initiatives, recognition efforts, organizational changes, and other business priorities.
- Maintain and identify opportunities to improve communication templates, tools, records, and standard work to support efficient communication processes and ensure consistency across the enterprise.
- Provide project management, administrative, and communications support for broader Enterprise Communications initiatives and strategic priorities as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills
- Strong written, verbal, editing, and proofreading skills with the ability to tailor messaging for different employee audiences.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented with a strong commitment to quality and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong project management, prioritization, and organizational skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective relationships across all levels of the organization.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Demonstrated ability to assess communication needs and anticipate stakeholder requirements.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, and SharePoint.
- Ability to remain calm, responsive, and adaptable during crisis and emergency communication situations.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Human Resources, Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field required.
- 4+ years of experience in internal communications, employee communications, corporate communications, human resources communications, public relations, or a related field preferred.
- Experience supporting employee engagement programs, executive communications, HR communications, or organizational communication initiatives preferred.
- Experience coordinating projects across multiple stakeholders and functions preferred.
