Based in Statesville, NC, the Manufacturing Engineer will develop processes, and equipment to support the production of quality products in a safe environment within the VPI Quality Windows Statesville, NC production facility reporting to the Plant Manager. In addition, the manufacturing engineer shall administer and follow VPI’s Quality Management System, supervise the QC Inspectors and their job duties and work in tandem with the VPI Quality Windows engineering team based in Spokane, WA to launch new designs, implement engineering changes and assist in the development of new products.                        



  • DFMEA for Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE) by eliminating waste and reducing cost (JEM & SQDCI approach) in the value chain
  • Actively support and participate in the company’s safety and health and quality programs.
  • Support Continuous Improvement (CI) activities within the production facility
    • Develop new processes, and/or equipment
    • Manage project or project components to completion within a specified timeline
    • Provide time and cost estimates based on project scope and requirements
    • Create models, drawings, charts, graphs, or other tools to clearly communicate specification to other functional groups
    • Work with outside vendors to develop parts and/or equipment on time and within budget
    • Develops and carries out test plans and experiments to validate product/process design and performance.
  • Engineering Production Support
    • Educate and develop the manufacturing staff with regards to new products and processes.
    • Answer questions regarding product quality, performance or specification as required.
  • Field testing and troubleshooting support as necessary


  • Travel as required
    • 0-5% travel is anticipated




  • Knowledge and application of basic problem solving skills and engineering skills (math, science, etc.).
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of VPI’s Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Must possess the ability to learn quickly, be self-motivated and work well independently.
  • Must be innovative and creative with high 3D mechanical spatial visualization skills.
  • Ability to use hand tools and cutting tools as well as larger equipment such as an automatic saw and vinyl welder (can be trained).
  • Demonstrated ability to provide sound design judgment and technical knowledge in a professional manner.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal abilities and the ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  • High energy level, comfortable performing multifaceted projects in conjunction with day-to-day activities.
  • Must enjoy working with your hands.
  • Must show strong attention to detail.



  • BS Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering (or closely related) with 5-10 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of 1 years’ experience using 3-D modeling software (Solid Works or Autodesk Inventor experience is required)
  • Experience in supporting and leading improvement activities in a high pace manufacturing environment.
