THE ROLE
Under the general supervision of the Director, Sourcing & Logistics Finance, the Manager, Logistics Finance is responsible for financial and analytical activities supporting North American Logistics including forecasting and reporting of freight inflation, process creation and standardization of freight payment and reconciliation, logistics productivity reporting and other reporting or general administrative needs of the logistics team. Utilizing multiple systems and sources, the Finance Manager will regularly report on logistics spend, variances to budgets and key drivers of transportation cost. The Finance Manager will research discrepancies in freight billing, US Customs payments, and carrier statements to determine root causes and drive to resolution. This position will also be accountable for clear, timely communication to the business on the financial health and status of JELD-WEN’s logistics spend.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for generating all inbound & outbound freight forecasting cycles (Budget, 3+9, 6+6, etc.) with alignment to all North American Entities.
- Manage In-Transit Inventory Warehouse & Freight Accruals with Controllership.
- Generate and publish various freight related reports weekly/monthly using freight forwarder and/or freight bill audit and payment systems.
- Establish Month-end Analytics on inflation, deflation, volume, mix, fuel, duties, etc.
- Create and deploy Expedite reporting and process for all modes of transportation.
- Drive Productivity reporting and manage savings projects with key leaders of Logistics team.
- Partner with Sites and Supply Chain leaders to develop standard processes for freight tracking and freight payment initiatives.
- Perform Vendor Set-ups and Onboarding
- Manage freight invoice exceptions, determine root cause, work with internal or external parties to help resolve.
- Manage carrier statements and ensure freight invoices are flowing correctly thru audit, adhere to payment terms and are being paid on-time.
- Assist with US Customs Reporting and Monthly Expense Management
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Knowledge and experience working with multiple transportation modes including TL, LTL , Ocean, Parcel and Last Mile
- Knowledge of transportation pricing, cost drivers and budgeting activities
- Experience in freight billing, audit, and invoice reconciliation procedures
- Outstanding interpersonal, written and communication skills as this position will regularly interact with carriers and will hold the relationship with carrier AR teams.
- Must be self-motivated, confident, positive, and professional when dealing with both internal personnel and external customers/carriers.
- The ability to thrive in a constantly changing and complex environment and consistently meet tight timelines.
- Must have a pleasant telephone demeanor, clear speaking voice, outstanding command of the English language, and good listening skills.
- Must possess fundamental product technical aptitude and knowledge, and outstanding math skills, and be detail oriented.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and all applicable JELD-WEN logistics applicable software applications.
- Basic knowledge of time management principles.
- Must possess the ability to work well in a team environment as well as under minimal supervision.
- Knowledge of health and safety standards and compliance related to the position.
- Must have a strong work ethic with a positive attitude and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- May on occasion travel to appropriate seminars or training.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in logistics, finance, or related discipline and two (2) to five (5) years’ experience in logistics, accounting, or finance.
