JELD-WEN is currently seeking a Manager, External Communications to join our growing team.

 

The Opportunity

 

As an external communications manager, you will be responsible for developing and executing compelling omnichannel storytelling strategies to enhance JELD-WEN corporate reputation and awareness, engage audiences, and drive business objectives. You will play a critical role in developing and delivering creative and interesting stories about the company for our target audiences across multiple channels including the corporate storytelling newsroom and corporate-owned social media channels.

 

You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to align content creation and distribution with overall marketing and communications goals. Strong knowledge of the PESO framework, managing a network of freelancers and outside agencies, as well as demonstrated success extending content across multiple channels is required

 

What You Will Do

 

  • Strategy Development: Develop a comprehensive storytelling strategy that aligns with the company’s objectives, target audience, and overall business goals. Identify key themes, narratives, and content formats that resonate with the target audience and drive engagement.
  • Content Creation: Oversee the creation of compelling and high-quality digital content, including written, visual, and multimedia elements. This includes but is not limited to articles, photographs, videos, infographics, social media content, and interactive experiences.
  • Channel Management: Manage the distribution and promotion of content across various channels, including the company's digital newsroom, social media platforms, and other relevant outlets. Optimize content for each channel to maximize reach and engagement.
  • Brand Consistency: Ensure that all digital storytelling efforts are aligned with the corporate brand's voice, tone, and messaging guidelines. Maintain a consistent storytelling approach across all corporate digital touchpoints.
  • Audience Engagement: Monitor and analyze audience engagement metrics to measure the impact and effectiveness of digital storytelling initiatives. Identify opportunities for improvement and optimization based on data-driven insights.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, communications, and global departments, to ensure that storytelling initiatives align with broader business objectives. Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to gather insights, develop content ideas, and coordinate campaigns.
  • Trends and Innovation: Stay up to date with the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in digital storytelling. Identify innovative approaches and tools that can enhance storytelling efforts and drive audience engagement.

 

 

Who You Are

 

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or a related field. A master's degree is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives and adapt writing style for different channels and audiences.
  • Proven experience in external communications strategies and tactics including content creation and storytelling, preferably in a corporate environment.
  • Proven experience leading freelancers and/or other outside agencies.
  • Highly organized, deadline-oriented, and able to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong understanding of digital platforms, including social media, websites, blogs, and content syndication.
  • Working knowledge of PR tech – including multimedia content creation and editing tools (i.e., Canva or similar), media monitoring and measurement, measurement tools, and content management systems.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to leverage data and metrics to drive decision-making and adjust plans for maximum impact.
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a passion for storytelling and a keen eye for detail.

 

 

How You Stand Out

 

  • Media relations experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of SEO principles and best practices for content optimization is a plus.
  • Experience in Canva, Monday.com and/or InDesign is a plus.
