ABOUT THE ROLE

 

The JELD-WEN Summer Internship Program empowers talented undergraduate students to gain real-world working experience and professional development in one of six potential business areas. This position is focused on the Engineering business area. The internship program includes meaningful projects and challenging work assignments geared at developing professional competencies and skills in a chosen discipline. Additionally, throughout the summer internship, participants will have the opportunity for professional development, mentoring, and networking opportunities to help enhance future leadership.  

  

WHAT YOU’LL DO

In the past, our interns have had the opportunity to:

 

  • Assist engineering teams build an insulated glass fill line that was to be constructed at manufacturing plant.
  • Work to make glass display pallets via SolidWorks, create drawings, and get quotes from drawings.
  • Redraw old part models and use them to create new assemblies of products that are up to date.
  • Use AutoCAD and Inventor to design and 3D model various parts and equipment needed in the lab.
  • Create dimensioned drawings of various components relating to both doors and windows.
  • Record data regarding the doors that we test in the R&D lab.
  • Test different materials with various equipment in the lab.

  • Leadership experience and relationship-building skills.

Recommended

  • Rising Senior students (current Juniors).
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Relevant internship or previous work experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
