Head of Global Public Relations

Reporting to the VP Global Corporate Communications, the Head of Global Public Relations works closely with the senior leadership team to develop a compelling external narrative and stakeholder engagement approach that enhances JELD-WEN’s reputation in the communities where it operates. This individual will lead a team of external and internal resources to share JELD-WEN’s story of why it’s a great company to buy from, work for and invest in via a holistic external communications strategy including media relations and brand building efforts.



Essential Functions:


  • Develops research-based external communications narrative that positions JELD-WEN positively in the eyes of its stakeholders and ensures message alignment globally
  • Develops integrated external communication plans that share JELD-WEN’s story proactively across earned, owned, paid and shared media, working closely with marketing, internal communications and global channel owners to execute
  • Leads media relations for the company and oversees external agency to leverage and amplify content opportunities
  • Works with agency to develop and execute thought leadership strategy for executives and leads media training for identified spokespeople
  • Supports issues and crisis management communications, including the development of messaging and Q&A
  • Coordinates PR strategy across the globe to ensure a consistent, cohesive message
  • Works with non-profit partners or other agencies to coordinate and amplify PR efforts, positioning the company as a responsible corporate citizen
  • Supports communications for the ESG report including a comprehensive external communication plan including media, digital and social to position JELD-WEN as a responsible corporate citizen
  • Develops KPIs and measurement for reputation-related initiatives and adjusts strategies as needed
  • Perform other duties as requested or assigned





  • Minimum 10-15 years’ experience in communications experience in corporate or agency environment.
  • Demonstrated track recording in leading media relations and developing relationships with journalists, preferably for a corporation
  • Must have experience pitching national business media outlets
  • Bachelor’s degree in a communications/business; MBA preferred
  • Experience in successfully leading a team/agencies
  • Demonstrated track record working with C-suite executives on communications, thought leadership and preparing them for media opportunities
  • Experience in developing community strategies and partnerships that build an organization’s reputation
  • Demonstrated superior oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience on M&A communications and organic growth initiatives, such as product launches
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and managing issues and crisis communications
  • Experience in working with investor relations and legal on corporate communications
  • Ability to operate in a matrixed environment, collaborating with multiple functional areas to drive initiatives forward
