The HR Director for Global Corporate Functions will provide strategic HR leadership to JELD-WEN’s executives and their teams of approximately 475 corporate finance, HR, IT, legal, strategic marketing, and transformation office employees. They will manage a Sr. HR Generalist. 


In this role, the HR Director will be a trusted advisor and thought partner to business leaders, responsible for providing comprehensive HR support in the areas of employee relations, recruitment, compensation, employment law/compliance, organizational effectiveness, talent management, and training and development. They provide expertise, support and advice on key business decisions and initiatives by establishing credibility, leveraging strong working relationships, and demonstrating business understanding to ensure an effective and collaborative strategic partnership.  In addition, facilitate HR compliance in policy development and related responsibilities.


This role is in the Charlotte Headquarters office and reports to the EVP of HR.


Principle Duties and Responsibilities


  • Strategic business and human resource leader
  • Lead in the achievement of overall business objectives through the design and implementation of effective HR strategy, programs, practices, policies, and tools
  • Develop and implements organizational structure and alignment recommendations linked to strategy
  • Lead/ coordinate HR due diligence and integration activities for all acquisition targets
  • Helps the business ensure there is a continuing talent pool of skills and leadership available to drive the business.  Including providing direction and leadership in succession planning, training, talent development and performance management
  • Develop, recommend, and implement policies, procedures and employee feedback tools designed to promote and monitor a positive employee relations climate and the accomplishment of Company objectives
  • Ensure company values and principles are sustained and take a lead role in fostering a work environment that is focused on building customer loyalty, innovation, globalization, talent development and operational excellence
  • Create organizational capacity for change, leading and sponsoring programs that promote organizational flexibility and effectiveness
  • Deploy effective employee communications strategy to provide updates on current business performance and allow for employee feedback on issues affecting the workforce
  • Ensure the company follows all applicable legislation regarding labor relations, employee relations, employment, employee benefits, safety, compensation, and other employee related matters.

Education and Experience


  • A BS/BA degree from an accredited college/university; MBA or MA/MS in human resources or related field preferred
  • 15+ years of experience in HR with a generalist background preferably in manufacturing, distribution, construction services with 7+ years of experience in an HR leadership role, building relationships with senior leaders and serving as a trusted advisor to employees and leaders
  • Extensive knowledge of HR practices and principles and applicable labor, pay, and benefits laws and regulations
  • High capacity for managing multiple projects simultaneously, influencing and gaining credibility with all levels of employees and management
  • Demonstrated strong career progression with ability to take on expanded leadership roles
  • Provided transformational leadership during economic and/or company adversity
  • High degree of comfort working with data to make strategic decisions
  • Excellent change and project management leadership
  • Demonstrated blend of strategic leadership and tactical execution
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong management and leadership skills
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations
  • Knowledge of and experience with varied human resource information systems including SAP

  • SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) or SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) certification preferred
