We are hiring a DE&I leader to champion JELD-WEN’s efforts to build, launch, and lead a range of initiatives that inspire diversity and inclusion in addition to supporting business objectives. The leader is responsible for working as a trusted partner and advisor to business leaders and the Human Resources community in the design and execution of an overall DE&I strategy.


The ideal candidate will have experience designing, leading, and developing innovative DE&I strategies, training solutions, employee resource groups, and building trust and collaboration with internal partners. The candidate is passionate about DE&I and brings fresh perspective to the company. To be successful this leader will need to demonstrate high intellect and subject matter expertise, as well as a collaborative, influential leadership style to become a true business partner and confidant to leadership and employees at all levels. The leader must demonstrate a bias for action and an ability to successful execute projects without a lot of manager oversight.


As a valued member of the Human Resources team, the Global Director – Diversity, Equity & Inclusion will be future looking in the development of long-term, global strategies, the leader will also create and manage a global governance structure to provide oversight driving intentionality, accountability, and consistency in JW’s implementation of DE&I efforts.


This position will be located in Charlotte, NC and reports to the EVP Human Resources


Principle Duties and Responsibilities


  • Design, develop and deliver a DE&I global strategy, grounded in JW Value of Invest in People. 
  • Understand the fundamental business strategy and how to link DEI efforts to business priorities.
  • Create and lead JW’s DE&I Council
  • Determine, track and report out on critical DEI metrics. Use data analytics to inform program investment and initiatives
  • Act as a subject matter expert and advisor to business leaders, HR teammates and Employee Resource Groups on DE&I related initiatives
  • Partner with Leadership Development and Learning teams to ensure DE&I content is incorporated into development, learning and engagement programs
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition to develop a DE&I recruiting strategy to ensure diverse candidate slates and appropriate representation throughout the recruitment and hiring processes
  • Advise hiring managers, HR teammates and TA partners on best practices to reduce bias throughout the selection and hiring process
  • Partner with the Early Career and University Relations team to ensure strong partnership with diverse schools and student organizations
  • Coach and advise JW’s Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) to ensure that annual planning, budget, and programming align with JW’s diversity and inclusion objectives. Determine global outreach for these groups
  • Represent JW in the community and partner with external DE&I SME’s to stay current on the DE&I broader external landscape, remaining up to date on best practices, current topics, and legal requirements. Incorporate that knowledge into JW’s D&I strategy
  • Lead the DEI pillar of ESG strategy
  • Actively engage with employees and create effective feedback loops around the D&I programs
  • Identify, select, manage, and track D&I external partnerships
  • Develop, implement and monitor strategies that support the retention and advancement of underrepresented groups at JW


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities


  • Track record of success in developing and implementing diversity and inclusion, workplace culture strategies and related change management needs
  • Experience producing and achieving DEI metrics and goals
  • Ability to traverse the tactical, operational, and strategic needs of a growing function, and proven success in an environment of ambiguity and change
  • Ability to earn trust, collaborate, and maintain positive and professional relationships, with various stakeholders internally and externally
  • Effective communication skills and ability to influence across all levels in an organization
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills; ability to prioritize and use resources effectively


Education and Experience


  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • 7-10 years of professional experience focused on the diversity and inclusion space
  • Degree or certifications in HR including SHRM, PHR, or SPHR preferred
  • Experience in managing programs through to completion #LI-MW #diversity
