JOB PURPOSE:

Reporting to the Director Global Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) programs and audits, the Manager EH&S will assist with the implementation of JELD-WEN’s environmental, health and safety excellence model, EH&S management system and strategy and global audit process.

The Manager EH&S will help build consistency and capability throughout JELD-WEN. The successful candidate must have multi-site experience with EH&S management system implementation, leading incident investigations, training with management and hourly personnel, leading and conducting EH&S audits and driving cultural change.

Experience with MS Suite of products, e.g., Excel, Access, Minitab, PowerPoint & Visio required. They will help promote a culture of EH&S Excellence, This corporate role will:

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist the Global Director EH&S programs and audits with the following:
    • Develop and deliver education, training of JELD-WEN’s EH&S Excellence Model, EH&SMS Self-assessment, and audit process and assist business units as required
    • Lead, or assist business units in leading, incident, near miss and SIF and potential SIF investigations to ensure root causes are determined and corrective actions are implemented
    • Develop and manage JELD-WEN’s contractor safety program
    • Provide S&H technical assistance to business units and sites as needed, including providing advice on machine guarding, lockout/tagout, electrical, confined spaces, fall prevention, recordkeeping, reporting and other safety regulatory issues. 
    • Develop JELD-WEN Global Safety & Health standards, e.g., confined space entry, electrical safety, motor vehicle safety, etc. and model programs for business unit and site use
    • Develop JELD-WEN’s global EH&S design for EH&S policy and manage the design for EH&S program
    • Develop and deliver EH&S education and training programs e.g., EH&S Leadership training for managers and supervisors, Fundamentals of EH&S for site EH&S resources, and other miscellaneous EH&S programs for webinars.
    • Implement Enterprise-wide Risk Assessment, and Human and Organizational Performance (HOP), initiatives
    • Lead and participate in JELD-WEN Environmental, Health & Safety audits
    • Assist business units with preparing and responding to regulatory inquiries/notices of violations by federal, state, provincial and governmental safety, and health authorities
    • Develop monthly EH&S learnings, alerts, company newsletters, webinars, etc.
    • Prepare EH&S presentations and reports for the Global VP EH&S, and JELD-WEN leadership

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors in Safety Engineering, Safety Sciences, Engineering, or similar
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) preferred
  • 7-10 years of EH&S management experience which includes supporting multiple locations
  • International EH&S experience required
  • Experience implementing EH&S Management Systems, e.g., ISO 14001, ANSI Z-10, or ISO 45001
  • Experience with web-based systems to support EH&S. Experience with Enablon, Gen-Suite, or similar systems desired
  • Experience with Human & Organizational Performance (HOP) desired
  • Strong communication, presentation, training, and facilitation skills are essential
  • Proficiency in LEAN and Continuous Improvement manufacturing principles
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Exemplary customer service skills and attention to detail
  • Advanced to expert skills using Minitab, and the Microsoft suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Access databases
  • Significant knowledge of U.S. Environmental, Safety & Health laws and regulations and International requirements desired
  • Strong analytical skills to analyze EH&S data
