The Role

The Enterprise Architect is accountable for proactively and holistically leading the analysis and plan for information technology that supports the desired business vision and targeted outcomes. This includes working with all business functions, working alongside solution architects within their specific domains, as well as technical architects including data, integration, and infrastructure.  The Enterprise Architect is responsible for taking a practical approach to supporting the business with recommendations on technology that optimizes return on investment and total cost of ownership.  A primary focus will be on the JELD-WEN Enterprise Transformation (JET) Program. JET is a multi-year strategic business program that will transform our business processes and systems by simplifying and standardizing processes, as well as modernizing the enabling technology which includes the deployment of SAP S/4 HANA applications. 


The Enterprise Architect will have a unique opportunity to provide leadership to global Business and IT colleagues around the globe. Close collaboration, organization, and communication with key stakeholders will be a key to success. This leader must be results driven and have prior experience in broad domains including business functions, applications, data and reporting, development, and infrastructure. This position will be located in Charlotte, North Carolina and reports to the VP of Business Transformation with approximately 25% percent travel.


Principle Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of an enterprise architecture plan based on business strategy and requirements
  • Ensure the linkage of business strategy with technology capability to achieve targeted business outcomes
  • Lead and facilitate the creation of governance, assurance, and standards to guide EA decision making
  • Actively participate in the deployment of top priority technology deployments
  • Quantify and communicate the value of enterprise architecture



Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Proven track record of establish technical strategy to enable targeted business outcomes
  • Minimum of 20+ years working with diverse application portfolios covering multiple areas of functionality including:
    • Enterprise Resource Planning: Quote to Cash, Plan to Manufacture, Procure to Pay, Record to Report
    • Sales and Marking: Lead to Quote, Customer Experience.
    • Design to Manufacture: Engineering, Product Life Cycle Management, Product Information Management
    • Human Resource Systems: Hire to Retire, Payroll, Learning.
    • Data and Reporting: Business Intelligence, Data Warehousing/Hubs/Data Lakes, Self Service Analytics
    • Data Integrations: Design and implementation of robust system data transfer technology and patterns
    • Application Development:  Software development life cycle management in multiple technologies
  • Knowledge of business ecosystems, SaaS, infrastructure as a service (IaaS), platform as a service (PaaS), SOA, APIs, open data, microservices, event-driven IT
  • Knowledge and experience creating value through process transformation and technology enablement
  • Exposure and understanding of existing, new, and emerging technologies.
  • Strong leadership skills that include leading roles on a global team in a matrixed organization

  • Excels at process re-engineering and implementing standard processes
  • Familiar with using CI / CD principles as well as Azure DevOps for application lifecycle management
  • Skilled at collaborating with all levels of Business and IT personnel
  • Experienced with agile and waterfall methodologies

  • Quick learner, adaptable, and able to manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong facilitation and negotiation capabilities 


Education and Experience:

  • 20+ years working with diverse application portfolios
  • 10+ years of experience with SAP S/4 HANA or equivalent ERP
  • 5+ years of experience in data, integration, business intelligence reporting
  • Experience in manufacturing sector. Door and window manufacturing preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline.
  • ITIL, PMP, and Agile certifications are a plus
