JELD-WEN is seeking a Director of Global Learning based at the Charlotte, NC headquarters and reporting to the VP of Global Talent Management.  The Director will be responsible for designing a global learning framework, related programs, and evaluation strategy for professional and production training activities to ensure employees have the skills they need to meet the evolving business demand. The role will partner closely with business leaders, HR and talent development  to build out robust platforms and programs to drive internal employee development with focus on:

  • identifying employee learning and development needs
  • defining desirable learning outcomes
  • creating and managing learning curriculums
  • providing input for selecting, designing, developing and delivering learning modules
  • overseeing the success of learning initiatives or programs


Key responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Serve as the SME for best in class learning tools and platforms that work seamlessly in global manufacturing and professional environments. Maintain knowledge of emerging trends in needs analysis, training design, innovative training techniques and evaluation processes.
  • Oversee the management of the Learning Management System (LMS) serving as the Global Business Process owner for learning, partnering with HRIS to manage the ongoing budget and sustainment/optimization activities.
  • Lead the team responsible for the learning ecosystem including the LMS platform, training catalog, 3rd party learning vendors, internal content providers, reporting requirements, and training for the system.
  • Manage the ongoing relationship with LMS vendor.
  • In partnership with regional talent development and human resources teams, conduct a training needs analysis for regions and departments to determine holistic learning needs.
  • Develop and utilize a systematic approach to learning using people, processes, and training technology to design, develop and deploy value-added training solutions based on problem solving analysis.
  • Partner with the communication and engagement teams to launch and manage ongoing communication strategies and campaigns promoting internal employee development offerings.
  • Partner with Legal/Compliance to manage Compliance Training, with EHS for Safety training and others where applicable.
  • Source training through external vendors when needed and manage external vendor relationships.
  • Define the eLearning and blended learning approaches needed for training solutions.
  • Define measures to assess, monitor, and report on the effectiveness and impact of training as well as opportunities for improvement and refinement based on those metrics.
  • Implement global programs in a timely manner and work with regional teams to localize and translate regional content when necessary.
  • Facilitate training as needed.
  • Manage a team of trainers and instructional designers both directly and indirectly.
  • Participates in other global and regional projects as required


Qualified candidates will have:

  • BS, BA degree in Human Resources, Training, Education, Instructional Design or related field.
  • 10+ years direct experience in training and development
  • Expert knowledge of learning management system implementation and administration as well as course authoring tools
  • Experience in designing blended learning solutions
  • Experience with deploying creative learning solutions to manufacturing and/or related remote workforce
  • Demonstrated in previous work experiences the ability to work independently and to communicate with multiple internal and external customers
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office software (Windows, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
  • Excellent written, verbal communications skills as well as demonstrated ability in a classroom setting
  • Familiar with a variety of concepts, practices and procedures related to the field of training and development and adult learning
