JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Position Title:  Director of Project Management

 

Position Rating/Level:   Director position

 

Job Purpose:  The R&D Project Management Leader is responsible for implementing and enforcing robust project management processes and leading the project management team that is responsible for the oversight of the design, development, validation and commercialization of new products, VAVE/Cost Reduction efforts and Sustaining Engineering activities. 

 

Reports to:  VP, R&D Engineering

           

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 

           

Responsibilities:

  • Provide Leadership for Project Management team in order to meet business objectives.
  • Develop and implement robust project management processes and practices for New Products, VAVE, and Sustaining Engineering activities.
  • Provide overview and status updates to members of Senior Management and other cross-functional teams.
  • Create clearly defined roles and responsibilities across project teams through process implementation.
  • Manage and supervise the work of the team members; promoting communication at all levels from R&D, Manufacturing, Administrative, including Senior Management, from inception to completion.
  • Develop and administer project budgets, schedules and performance standards, tracking accountability of team to objectives, and ensuring clear project definition/objectives.
  • Track and report on R&D Engineering budget
  • Demonstrate a primary commitment to product safety and quality by maintaining compliance with R&D policies/procedures.
  • Work with business leaders to prioritize all R&D projects that will realize biggest business impact, and ensure prioritized projects have appropriate resources. #LI-TG1

 

Qualifications:

  • BS degree with 10 years of project management experience. 
  • 10 Years of experience managing people.
  • Excellent knowledge of NPD process with demonstrated experience launching multiple new products
  • Excellent knowledge of VAVE process with demonstrated experience managing VAVE projects to realize savings. 
  • Knowledge of value stream mapping
  • Excellent managerial and communication skills with ability to communicate complex problems effectively.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification a plus.
  • Excellent organizational skills and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Visio, MS Project)
  • Demonstrated track record of defining and driving process improvement initiatives through the use of cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently under conditions of multiple deadlines and changing priorities, and the ability to drive the Product and Project Management process from inception to completion in a collaborative manner.
  • Must be innovative and lead teams to complete projects effectively, efficiently, and on-time.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing process improvement techniques
  • The ability to work with VP’s, GM’s, Engineering, Operations and other Manufacturing personnel to ensure that R&D, Product Line Management, Engineering, and Operations is meeting their design and project needs, goals, and objectives. 
  • The ability to motivate subordinate personnel and communicate deadlines and urgencies to Product and Project Teams as needed, or as directed.
  • Demonstrated management skills with the ability to resolve conflict effectively and problem solve with a positive and professional attitude. 

 

 

Travel:

  • 25% travel is anticipated.
