Job Title: Director of Ecommerce

Reports to: Vice President of Retail Sales




This newly created role will lead the efforts to establish a highly profitable and sustainable business infrastructure that ensures reliable, long-term servicing of customers that are e-commerce ready. This includes building and directing a cohesive team of internal and external personnel to effectively develop end-to-end E-Commerce solutions. The Director, E-Commerce will have responsibility for the online channel and driving sales through E-Commerce.  This position works directly with the data team, which captures the product hierarchy information for all JELD-WEN products, including new product launches. This team drives what becomes a public facing product, ensures products are setup and orderable in all business systems, and manages syndications to all endpoints across all sales channels.  Additionally, this position works closely with the digital marketing team, to build and maintain our ecommerce platforms and is responsible for utilizing data and customer feedback to deliver an optimal experience. Ultimately this person is responsible for a consistent customer experience with our product data and content while driving sales through ecommerce platforms.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Revenue and support cost responsibility for the online channel (Home Center, online only)
  • Provide expertise on current E-Commerce industry best practices. Consult on cross-functional projects to ensure E-Commerce principles are incorporated.
  • The Director of E-Commerce is responsible for collaborating with cross-functional partners to manage all aspects of the E-Commerce business including, business planning content strategy and development, promotional campaigns, SEO optimization, analytics and web technologies.
  • Serve as a liaison and primary point of contact within the E-Commerce organization for cross functional partners acting as a project manager to evaluate, prioritize, develop, manage, implement and test E-Commerce initiatives.
  • Participate in the development and execution of strategic and tactical business plans with other members of the cross functional team supporting the E-Commerce strategy
  • Manage the user experience of the third-party/customer websites including navigation, promotional campaigns, video analysis, content development and enrichment.
  • Manage all aspects of product master data and web analytics related to E-Commerce and communicate relevant information to team members, executive leadership and cross-functional partners.
  • Drive the creation of automated and efficient processes to manage and syndicate product data across the organization to ensure we have the right product data in the right places and it is accurate internally as well as relevant externally where data has been shared.
  • Partner with key cross-functional teams to ensure all relevant organizational goals and implications are factored into E-Commerce projects and support to include pricing, customer service, fulfillment, inventory and returns.
  • Generate and implement new sales and marketing initiatives to increase E-Commerce sales and profitability.
  • Identify new areas of E-Commerce opportunity beyond current organizational thinking
  • Collaborate with commercialization and product management to incorporate the digital customer experience requirements into the overall content and messaging that is being developed.
  • Responsible for all catalog number level product content, and using data must determine what content will drive conversion.
  • Partner with offline sales teams to understand customer level priorities in-store and align online priorities to ensure JELD-WEN has an omni-channel presence that is value add, and consistent. Lead and drive effectiveness of key customer brand advocate programs.




  • A minimum of 8 years in an E-Commerce or digital business development role.
  • A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in Marketing or Business-related field.
  • Experience with both B2C and B2B E-Commerce.
  • Having technical skills with knowledge of general internet, database, and user

interface design, as well as familiarity with e-commerce systems including CMS.

  • Familiarity with web-based product development, workflow modeling and understanding of

typical technology architecture and transactional web sites.

  • Proven leadership of large E-Commerce projects.
  • Extensive knowledge of E-Commerce technology and sophisticated analytics.
  • Knowledge of Google AdWords, Yahoo Search Marketing and MSN AdCenter.
  • Outstanding analytical skills, strong experience interpreting test results & drawing


  • Effective written and oral communication with multiple levels of business and technical


  • Understanding of software processes (development, configuration, testing and deployment)

is critical in this role.

  • Demonstrated strong business judgment and decision-making skills; ability to identify,

prioritize, and articulate highest impact initiatives.
