Role Summary

Responsible for the delivery of the financial reporting and analysis requirements of the North American segment (US & Canada), including the provision of accurate, timely and insightful reporting of month end financials and monthly planning. The role is instrumental in putting together the segment picture and working with the Plant Management teams to understand the drivers of the numbers and driving best practice in financial processes and procedures.

 

Our Director of FP&A will also work directly with North America Finance leadership, commercial, operations, and functional departments to understand and improve the profitability of the business and implement standard processes and procedures. Help lead the creation of the monthly MBR deck and bridging process.

 

As an integral member of the NA finance team, you would be responsible for leading projects or work efforts, serve as a resource for other staff, and also be available to formally supervise staff on an as needed basis. Assists with the preparation of internal financial information for distribution. Provide project financial support and direction at a North America level ensuring projects are fully scoped and financially supported.  Serve as financial support to cross functional teams. Help improve overall visibility of business drivers and insight, improve the efficiency of key processes and be an integral part of the business achieving its business objectives. 

 

 

Critical Performance Objectives

  • To contribute to the building of a competent Finance function within North America by ensuring an appropriately skilled FP&A function is in place and that key non-Finance roles have the relevant level of Finance knowledge to deliver their objectives (e.g. Plant Managers);
  • Achievement of forecast, with appropriate counter measures actioned;
  • Implementation and embedding of standard work – Pulse preparation, use of the operational headcount model, Manufacturing statement project, mapping / direct connect upload to OneStream, value stream mapping to define standard work and address areas of waste so that non-value add tasks can be removed;
  • Ensure Budget and cost centre understanding, and to drive improved Budget cycles year over year
  • Take over ownership of monthly MBR deck and bridging process.

 

Key Accountabilities

  • Drive continuous improvement through data availability, consistent and good standards of system use and adoption, implementing new tools and ensuring consistent data reliability;
  • Support the company’s continuous improvement hurdles of ROS% improvement through price management, customer and channel margin management, productivity and sourcing savings, and leveraging overheads;
  • SAP / One Stream – be a functional Super User (data, analysis, reporting, etc.).
  • In conjunction with the Plant Management team, ‘own’ the forecast and Budget, along with any necessary counter measures, to ensure achievement of the business earnings;
  • Support month end / Quarter end close process - US GAAP consolidation;
  • Lead the Pulse process (weekly forecast) – improve predictability, accuracy, ensure closeness to business, highlight risk / exposure;
  • Lead monthly forecast process – ensure accurate, realistic, achievable, supported by sound financial analysis, challenge, monitor, drive improvements in P&L, TWC, Cash etc. by understanding and challenge the ‘how’ (detail, substance and assumptions); identifying and executing the actions; ensuring it is not a ‘Post Box’ or a numbers exercise;
  • Lead internal management reporting including financial walks (monthly, quarterly, year to date, forecast, sequential, etc.) and delivery of any necessary business presentations
  • Help lead the annual Budget & LRFF process
  • Support management decision making processes through broad ranging detailed financial analysis;
  • Understand key business drivers and impact on performance – market, price, competitors, FX, inflation, mix, NPD, business case review and execution, etc.;
  • Liaise with Procurement / Operations / Finance to drive productivity – understand actual vs expected results, ensure consistency, accuracy, reliability, and develop early warning mechanisms, understand any leakage or deviations, cost overspends, etc.;
  • Support capex approval process – initial business case analysis, preparation of business cases, execution, tracking actual vs expected;
  • Drive business improvement via top customer reviews, customer profitability reviews, product line profitability analysis, customer rebates / discount review, order book analysis;
  • Overhead and SG&A spend review / management;
  • Support HR - headcount analysis, reporting, tracking investments and reductions;
  • Completing detailed material, labor, freight cost analysis including BOM, PUC accuracy;
  • Support SQDCI Improvement Initiatives – detailed analysis, reporting, tracking;
  • Through active personal leadership, create a motivated and engaged climate to deliver goals effectively and efficiently;
  • Manage upwards and downwards communications to create a sense of purpose and a sense of belonging to a wider JELD-WEN organization; Contribute to the development of a no surprises culture – drive ownership, accountability, and a check book mindset, ensuring information is data driven and not subjective.

Experience / Knowledge

  • Able to clearly communicate with data, a cohesive explanation around business drivers behind financial data and potential implications on future results to facilitate decision-making actions;
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a multi-site multi country finance / accounting role;
  • Manufacturing sector experience;
  • Experience in systems and processes development and designing high performance organizational structures;
  • Detailed understanding of complex finance operations;
  • Proven track record of introducing new processes effectively into finance;
  • Experience of implementing ERP systems an advantage;
  • Strong communication skills at all levels and across all disciplines;
  • Used to strong customer focus and good internal customer relationship management.

 

Education / Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree or higher, preferably in Accounting or Finance
