Position Summary

 

The Data & ETL Architect/Lead will be accountable for efficient design, successful delivery, and support of integration & data solutions at JELD-WEN. This role will partner with extended IT architects, cross functional business leaders, functional IT team members to define, design, prioritize, and deliver data integrations as well as design key data structures and schemas for a global integration data hub. This role will fully leverage internal platforms and third-party applications as sources and targets to enable business critical data flows using waterfall and agile approaches. This role will embrace traditional as well as open-source technologies and methodologies for delivering complex data integration in a global program.


Responsibilities
 

  • Partner with IT architects and external consultants to define overarching integration data hub landscape to deliver data integration initiatives.
  • Design scalable patterns and architecture to support both batch near real-time, and real-time data products & platforms using big data technologies.
  • Design and document data structures and schemas in an API lead, data centric Integration Data Hub.
  • Ensure physical and logical data models are designed with flexibility in mind to support future use cases with minimal rework including canonical data model design.
  • Show expertise for data at all levels: low-latency, relational, and unstructured data stores; analytical and data lakes; data streaming, data in-transit.
  • Evaluate and advise on local or domain data architecture solutions.
  • Designing, implementing, and analyzing high performing queries.
  • Assist Reporting Managers and BI/Analytics developers to build and validate informative reports and dashboards
  • Understand business rules and data complexities to enforce data quality control for transactional and master data delivery with appropriate data delivery performance.
  • Lead discovery workshops mapping out multiple data platform technology solution requirements leveraging internal and external data sources to provide best practice guidelines.
  • Contribute to the direction, road map and standards for functional, process and technical data solutions.
  • Partner with functional and technical teams throughout the company to define, design and deliver a robust integration data platform integrated with transactional systems, master data management systems and business data warehouse solutions that meet business needs.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database integrity issues, performance issues, blocking and deadlocking issues, connectivity issues, security issues etc.
  • Provide program and support metrics to the business identifying projects in the queue, prioritization, cost, ROI, resources and timeline required to complete the project
  • Recommend technologies that will enhance current data integration solutions to meet ever expanding corporate and business goals.

Required Qualifications
 

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, related discipline, or relevant work experience
  • Minimum 10 years of solid, diverse work experience to build and maintain data integration and storage platforms and services
  • 5+ years of experience architecting and delivering Enterprise Data Solutions including Data Lakes, Data Warehouses and Data Pipelines.
  • Experience with modern data movement, storage, management and security technology and tooling.
  • Experience with data modeling, data warehousing, and building high volume ETL/ELT pipelines.
  • Experience mapping and aligning data from disparate data sources into a semantic / canonical data model
  • Experience in implementing master data management solutions and processes
  • Experience with integration of multi-cloud services with on-premise technologies.
  • Experience with at least one MPP database technology such as Snowflake.
  • Knowledge of design and implementation of data integrations using Microsoft SSIS, SQL Server, Change Data Capture, Data Encryption / Decryption, SFTP etc. technologies
  • Experience with modern engineering practices and how to use and apply them to Data Architectures and solutions.
  • Experienced in requirement analysis, configuration, design and development, testing and monitoring of platforms and applications
  • Understanding of agile development, including DataOps is a plus.
  • Understanding of metadata management, data lineage, and data glossaries
  • Sound understanding of Data Streaming models
  • Should be highly proficient translating business requirements into technical designs and data models including end to end process of analysis, configuration, design, development, testing and monitoring of platforms and applications.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and consultative skills to work effectively with vendors, peers, and IT staff.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Previous experience with application center experience (onshore/offshore model).
  • Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team.

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Experience in cloud data engineering
  • Experience in Azure/AWS Datawarehousing tools (SQL Datawarehouse, DevOps, etc.)
  • Snowflake or other MPP implementation experience
  • Previous project leadership experience
  • Experience in vertical manufacturing and supply chain industries
  • Applicable certifications preferred
