THE ROLE

 

As a valued member of the North American Sourcing team, the Advanced Sourcing Manager is responsible for providing cross-category sourcing & supply management leadership to the New Product Introduction (“NPI”) and advanced development teams.  This role will oversee the RFQ and supplier selection process for all new product launches and will ensure sourcing decisions are aligned with long-term category strategies to maximize the overall value to JELD-WEN.  This role will partner with R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, Product Line Managers, and Category Managers to drive upstream alignment on sourcing strategies for the benefit of new product launches and supplier innovation. 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Work jointly with Category Managers to develop and maintain a short medium- and long-term strategy around supplier management to help ensure high-quality cost-effective parts are supplied to new product development teams and manufacturing facilities.
  • Identify, manage, and develop supplier partners capable of meeting current and future JW business needs
  • Work with internal customers to develop a supplier segmentation model for each major JW material group including identification of Strategic, Preferred, Approved, and Restricted suppliers for each material group.
  • Develop and maintain a competency matrix of key suppliers for each major JW material group which can drive value in the NPI process.
  • Implement APQP integration within the supply chain processes for NPI projects
  • Assess supplier financial health and other risk factors for all suppliers being considered for new business awards in NPI projects.
  • Work collaboratively with the Sourcing Program Manager and other internal stakeholders to drive continuous improvement in the supplier quoting and awarding process.
  • Manages supplier selection process, meeting the organization’s standards of price, quality, timing, and reliability of supply for all NPI launches
  • Manages supplier negotiations, analyzes suppliers' operations, and recommends the lowest cost consistent with quality, reliability, and ability to meet required schedules.
  • Negotiates pricing of new components and awards contracts within specified spending limits for NPI projects, and develops new, qualified sources of supply
  • Works jointly with Category Managers to secure long-term supply agreements with all suppliers that leverage new business & growth opportunities
  • Lead the development, planning, and coordinated execution of a Supplier Innovation program and pipeline of projects across all top strategic suppliers.
    • Ensure Supplier Innovation projects are aligned and consistent with Company direction / sub-category priorities; prioritized to support realization of business benefits; and tracked and reported to ensure the business benefit is delivered.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in Category Management, Supply Management, Operations, or similar functions in a large, multi-divisional organization
  • Project/Program Management experience in Integrated Supply Chain with emphasis on Sourcing and New Product Integration
  • Experience developing and operationalizing strategy
  • Ability to lead change in a complex environment
  • Strong facilitation, influencing, organizing, and presentation/communication skills
  • Proven ability to achieve results through building partnerships and influence skills
  • Experience in cross-functional commodity/category teams.
