JELD-WEN is currently seeking a Category Manager to join our growing team. 

 

THE ROLE

 

As a valued member of the global procurement team, the Category Manager will lead the management of assigned commodities for the North American region. This person will establish and implement short and long-term strategies for continued cost reduction, supplier relationship management and value improvement and also responsible for negotiating all major contracts and agreements within the category and delivering the best value to JELD-WEN.

 

This is an exciting opportunity to join a team that is shaping global procurement policies and strategy across JELD-WEN. The incumbent will take ownership of an assigned commodity and deliver on agreed-upon KPIs for that category.  Our global procurement team sources commodities including:

 

  • Glass
  • Metals
  • Logs & Lumber
  • Boards & Doors
  • Chemicals
  • Hardware
  • Molding & Millwork
  • Packaging
  • Plastics

 

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Building cross-functional relationships and partnerships with suppliers to improve value, quality, delivery, performance and technology solutions
  • Seek opportunities to leverage spend and volume and reduce future price increase risk
  • Identify Strategic, Preferred and Development suppliers
  • Negotiate the lowest total cost of ownership for assigned commodities
  • Work collaboratively in a highly matrixed and fast-paced organization

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

 

  • Demonstrated knowledge and acumen in procurement and category management
  • Ability to exercise leadership and influence across multiple businesses and regions
  • Ability to establish cross-functional relationships and partnerships through product and process knowledge
  • Skilled in building effective working relationships with vendors and suppliers by taking a customer-focused approach
  • Project management skills including excellent planning, time management, decision making and organization skills
  • Detail-oriented with ability to analyze, evaluate and report procurement information and data to inform management decisions and track outcomes
  • Self-motivated and results-oriented, with a bias to action
  • Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint knowledge is essential
  • Commitment to own professional development
  • Able to travel internationally (25%)

 

Education and Experience

 

  • An expectation of 5+ years’ or equivalent depth of experience in a sourcing role within a complex global manufacturing business
  • A strong background in global sourcing with the ability to negotiate contracts and drive value into the supply chain
  • Experience in complex RFQ generation and bidding process
