JELD-WEN is currently seeking a R&D Lab Manager / Test Technician to join our growing team.

 

Test Technician/Lab Manager

 

 

The role is responsible for supporting the business with its test requirement needs. Conduct tests to recognized standards or developing test methodologies to meet the requirements of a project. Interpret results and make recommendations to improve the outcome or provide clear conclusions with written reports.  Develop a robust data base for reports so the information is accessible and useable by all departments to enable efficient business decisions.  Have responsibilities for the HSE and general upkeep of the lab facilities and drive improvement initiatives to grow the test lab capabilities.

  • Project Delivery –Tests are completed on time according to business priorities.
  • Documentation – Ensure outcomes can be interpreted clearly.
  • Safety – Ensure the test lab environment complies to HSE requirements and work with continual improvement mentality.

 

 

Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence with all compliance standards and operate with integrity at all times.
  • Ensure HSE standards are being met at all times
  • Responsible for all product testing requirements within the Astorp facility.
  • Responsible of the daily upkeep of the test lab
  • Support the continual improvement of the test lab and its capabilities with a focus on driving efficiency.
  • Deliver test conclusions in the form of written reports.
  • Conduct test according to business priorities.
  • Develop a deep and detailed understanding of the design, specification and performance of existing products.
  • Keep abreast of the industry standards and ensure test methods are relevant.
  • Standardise where possible methodologies and JW best practices.
  • Work closely with test labs in other areas of the business.
  • When required attend offsite duties related to testing requirements
  • Aid in the root-cause analysis of warranty claims/factory issues and feedback into the product development cycle
  • Work closely with operations and procurement departments to execute VAVE and productivity initiatives.

Experience / Knowledge

  • Essential: Previous experience working in the test environment.
  • Essential: Understanding/knowledge of National, European and International standards relevant to construction products
  • Essential: Excellent written and communication skills
  • Essential: Microsoft Office suite competency 
  • Desirable: Knowledge of design requirements for construction products
  • Desirable: Experience of the joinery / fenestration industry
  • Desirable: Experience building business cases for future investments
  • Desirable: Experience working according HSE requirements. 

 

 

Language Skills

  • Must be fluent in both written and spoken English
